With a strong educational foundation earned in China, Mahlet has built a career at the intersection of economics, youth empowerment, and gender equality.

Her leadership with ICARE has been pivotal in addressing barriers that force girls out of school, mobilizing communities, and championing policies that protect girls’ right to education. Currently serving with the United Nations, Mahlet advocates for youth employment and economic inclusion, ensuring that young people have access to dignified job opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
